"KIRSI" RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION ENTERPRISE

Research and Production Enterprise (RPE) "KIRSI" was established in November 1990 as a small-scale official enterprise. When creating the Enterprise, the main purpose of it was to accelerate practical implementation of Radium Institute's scientific and technical developments under the beginning of market relationships.

Since 1996 RPE "KIRSI" is entrusted with duties for economic management of the site No2 representing "historical motherland" of Radium Institute under total self-supporting and self-repayment conditions. In pursuance of Federal Law "On a Subject of Unitary State and Municipal Enterprises" No 161-FZ of 14.11.02 RPE "KIRSI" received in 2003 a status of separate branch, keeping at that all the lines of it's former activities and staff.

By January 2002 the following structure of RPE was formed:

• laboratory for radioecological researches,
• laboratory for X-ray spectral microanalysis and electron-microscope investigations ,
• laboratory for roentgen investigation methods,
• laboratory for simulation of nuclear physical processes,
• group to design radiation safety and physical protection control systems.

KIRSI's conventional partners are first of all presented by enterprises under the Branch, such as Siberian Chemical Combine, PA "Mayak", VNIIEFA, VNIPIPT, Mining and Chemical Combine, VNIIEF, Center "Atomzaschitainform", STC "NFI" for STC under President of Russia. They carry out the works ordered by IAEA, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Las Vegas University.
