Laboratory was established in 1985.
General research lines:
- investigation of available forms and migration behavior of man-caused radionuclides in the environment;
- study of radioecological aftereffects caused by operating of radiation-dangerous facilities;
- ecological support to designs of spent nuclear fuel regeneration productions;
- radioecological problems resulted from natural radionuclides in non-nuclear areas.
The Laboratory carries out researches in cooperation with FSUE "Mining and Chemical Combine (MCC)" (Zheleznogorsk city), FSUE "HI VNIPIET", FSUE "A.N. Krylov CNII", GEOChE RAS, et al.
There are implemented investigations of migration behavior and available forms of man-caused radionuclides, including trans-uranium elements, within the system of Krasnoyarsk Mining and Chemical Combine - Yenisei River - Kara Sea. The processes related to generation of contaminated alluvial sediments in Yenisei River's floodplain have been studied, as well as a role of "hot" particles in these processes.
There is completed the study of distribution of man-caused 90Sr, 137Cs radionuclides, plutonium isotopes in soils in the area subjected to radiological effect from Krasnoyarsk Mining and Chemical Combine, and exposure doses to the population of this region are evaluated.
They have implemented integrated studies of radioactive contamination with man-caused radionuclides, including trans-uranium elements, ground and floodplain sediments within water system of Yenisei River - Kara Sea.
The Laboratory has prepared the following input data required to assess environmental impact (EIA) from RT-2 Factory to be designed at the site of MCC:
- regarding "background" environmental contamination;
- on prediction of radiological environmental impact from facilities under design.
They have developed recommendations to improve radiological conditions under iodine obtaining from stratal water and at treatment of artesian water for drinking water supply. They have studied the distribution of natural radionuclide impurities in the process cycle of titanium recovery from ilmenites at Bereznikovskiy Titanium and Magnesium Combine and in the run of rare-metal raw material processing at Solikamsk Magnesium Factory. Radioecological factor is evaluated for the process of incineration of civil waste water dehydrated solid sludge at waste water treatment plant (i. Belyi, S.-Petersburg).
